I read a bit about him. He was decent during last season other than making some rookie mistakes. He plays physical which would cost him some holdings and PI's. I'm excited to see how he's developed.

bentley is the rookie from lafeyette right? the cb we got last year

Ok, I was looking at some pictures today from training camp on the Lions' Facebook. Came across this picture and couldn't help but notice the guy in the background

If he's legitimately handicapped I feel bad for laughing but if he's in a wheelchair because he's too fat to walk then lol

Practice was awesome today. I had the best seat in the house with the entire thing pretty much happening directly in front of my line of the fence. It's unreal how unhuman Calvin looks up close and in person. Suh and Fairley look monstrous too

After practice, I was able to get the signatures of Sam Martin and Rob Sims who were just walking around. Rob Sims is a class act and a half. Fortunately, my ticket to the autograph line was chosen, so I got to go to the autograph table. Nick Fairley signed a football for me, and Mikel Leshoure, Mike Thomas, Jake Scott, and Thaddeus Lewis did too. Fairley is super nice and he took a picture with me

Then, I almost got Calvin to sign a ball when he came over to the fence. Glover Quin was just about to sign my ball until the PR guys finally made him go to the locker room. He was supposed to be there 15 minutes prior, but he stayed to meet fans and kept saying "5 more mins... 5 more mins" He was awesome.

Highly recommend anyone who is thinking of going and who has time to go to go. It was an awesome experience

Glad you had a good time man! I am Jelly!
In other news:
The Lions have a couple new faces on the field at today’s training camp practice.

The team signed safety Trevor Coston and defensive lineman Xavier Proctor to contracts Thursday.

To make room on the 90-man roster, the Lions waived safety Ricardo Silva and defensive lineman Spencer Nealy.

Silva, who started six games for the Lions last season, was getting third- and fourth-team reps in practice and isn’t eligible for the practice squad. The move will allow him to hook on with another team early in camp.

Taking his spot is Coston, who was invited to the Lions’ mini-camp this spring and spent training camp last year with the Bears before he was released. He played his college football at Maine and finished his career with 215 tackles and 12 interceptions and was also a quality return man.

Proctor, an undrafted rookie out of North Carolina Central, was a tryout player for the Lions during their spring mini-camp. He has some versatility at 6-foot-6, 277 pounds, and can play both inside and outside. He was an ALL-MEAC performer last season with 42 tackles (21 solo), including 10.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks.

Nealy signed with Detroit this offseason as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M.

How's REGGAE BUSH MAN?

The Detroit Lions practiced in pads for the first time during training camp Sunday and running back Reggie Bush was reminded of that when defensive end Willie Young gave him a nice shoulder-pad-to-shoulder-pad jolt as he went by during a team period.
Reggie BushRB Reggie Bush

Bush, 28, is certainly used to a little contact at this point in his career, but he hasn't taken the kind of abuse that other running backs entering their eighth season in the NFL have. The Lions are hoping to benefit from that fact.

"I really didn't get beat up early in my career," Bush said. "The last two years in Miami was the first time I really experienced that 20 to 25 carry range (per game). I feel good. I've really played injury free both seasons (in Miami)."

Bush makes a good point; he averaged less than 140 carries per season his first three years in the league in New Orleans and has less than 1,000 career carries (967). The last two seasons in Miami were the first time he reached 200 carries in a season.

Compare that to some of the other running backs taken after Bush in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Carolina's DeAngelo Williams was the third back taken that year and has racked up 1,169 carries. Maurice Jones-Drew, who was taken in the second round by Jacksonville, has 1,570 carries. Even a player like Joseph Addai, who last played for Indianapolis in 2011, has more career carries than Bush with 1,095.

We talk all the time about the age of 30 being some kind of benchmark where NFL running backs qualify for their AARP card.

Bush is only two years from his 30th birthday, but the lack of abuse he's taken over the majority of his career has him feeling younger than the age on his drivers license.

"I still feel good," he said after a training camp practice this weekend. "I still feel like I have a lot to prove and a lot of football left in me and I'm just getting started."

That's exactly what the Lions are hoping after signing Bush to a four-year, $16 million contract this offseason. He's taken most of the first-team reps in camp and the Lions expect him to provide a big-play spark in both the run game and the passing game this year.
