Boss wants to switch me back to a contractor, meaning I'd lose the vacation time she finally just gave me after 2.5 years of being there, and my incentive bonus I started getting about 6 months ago. Also means I'd get roughly a 20% paycut unless she raises my base rate (which she won't). Told her I'm not doing it unless I'm being adequately compensated and I have guarantee that my hours would stay around the same. We'll see what happens, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she fires me at this point. People never understand how much you do for them until you're gone. Her net income has almost doubled since I've started working their lol, funny how rich people don't see the correlation with shit like that.
She told me all this on Thursday and then I had to work the rest of the day knowing she wanted to cut my rate to a point where I could no longer support my wife, child, and mother-in-law. She also then refused to pay me on Friday as it's "too much of a hassle" to pay me on payday and that we'd figure it out "sometime next week". My birthday was on Sunday, so she refused to pay me two days before my birthday when she knows how strapped for cash I am. I've been in the office for 3 Christmas/thanksgiving holidays and for the first time last year she paid me for those days, and only because we hired another nurse who said she needed to get paid on those days. I've never once gotten any other paid holiday off, no sick days, no benefits and now this. I've never once demanded that I get paid for any of these, healthcare and some other things have been brought up but she's immediately dismissed them and that was the end of the conversation. I've never complained to her about any of it. On top of all of that, I was the first to her house after she had a breakin, got all her locks changes on her house car, called and cancel all her CCs that were stolen and got them replaced, picked up extra work in the office and at her house including working weekends when her daughter had a mental breakdown and then took her and her other daughter out for dinner and drinks to cheer her up, and most recently, I drove her to the office and got her spare ID, drover her to the impound to get her car, and set her up with an attorney I know after she got a DUI. I've literally done everything I possibly can for this woman inside and outside of work and she just wants to assfuck me and be happy about it lol.
I will admit that I've had a drop in my productivity over the past two weeks due to some very serious family concerns. All of which I've explained to her and kept her in the loop about letting her know when I'd need to be on conference calls, court meetings etc... and she conveyed sympathy at the time. It wasn't like I was never in the office or anything, I was still working 30-35 hours a week (which is what I normally work) and answering calls on weekends/nights or working while I needed to be home at dealing with shit. Just definitely wasn't working as well as I normally do, no doubt about that. Just crazy to me that a few bad weeks justifies taking away everything from me that I've worked to achieve over my nearly 3 years in her office.
Anyways, end rant. Just needed to get all of that off my chest. It's been a truly horrible two weeks and just typing all this out has made me feel a bit better. Thanks for reading and wish me luck tomorrow guys. Really not sure what the next step for me is going to be if she decides to just fire me right then and there.
do not quit voluntarily unless you have another job lined up
get a lawyer after she fires you
