Life advice from the buzzins. What sounds better to you for a job. Just assume all jobs are in the field you want and you're very interested in them.

Option A: Work for a new company that is private and currently growing rather fast but could honestly flop at any given moment. Its about 45 minutes from where you live and you're making less than you currently do but there's optional overtime that's supposedly unlimited which would more than make up the difference pay wise. You're getting in on the ground floor of something that could be huge or a massive bust.

Option B: Stay with your current company but get a promotion and have to go to a new location which is also 45 minutes away from where you live. Make more than you currently do, but not much, and take on a lot more responsibility in a more boring role.

Option C: Stay with your current company and current location just 5 minutes from where you live, take a smaller promotion and make more than you currently do but continue to do what you love the most.

Depends where you are in your life and what you can afford to do.

A or C imo. I wouldn't do option B (something boring) unless there was another opportunity for promotion, with a significant pay increase within 6 months.

Idk about 6 months but taking the promotion in B definitely gives me more opportunities. If I took A I likely wouldn't have any room for quite awhile to move up as far as position but pay would have potential to be increased within 4 months to about what I'd be making in C immediately and then who knows after that.

As far as what you said first, at this point one of them will happen because they need to happen so it's just a matter of which one. Any one of the scenarios will allow me to live and provide comfortably.

Care to elaborate some? That one seems the least appealing to me simply because I will be bored. It does offer the most potential for opportunities to move up but there is no time frame attached to that.

And I've never worked somewhere that was more than 10 minutes from where I live so it's scary out there in the world.

EDIT: Also, B would essentially mean I'll never again get to do what I enjoy the most in C. A is also doing the same thing as C kind of, I think that's what's holding me up the most. :-/

I've always wanted to be in on the ground floor. If it's something you LOVE then go for it. But otherwise I would chose C

A for sure. You're young enough that the reward GREATLY outweighs the risk. The best thing you could do is let your current company know why you're leaving and NOT burn any bridges.

If you can be a 20-something getting in at the ground floor of the next roxio or facebook, you're fucking set for life. Worst case scenario, you're a 20-something that has to look for a job and has another section of work experience on his resume.

I guess.. A > C > B

Depends what benefits being on the ground floor of A will bring.
