There really wasn't any coping process, not for me anyway. Once they told me I was paralyzed, I just took it as reality. I just did what they told me to do in order to get better. I didn't even cry at any point, if you can believe that. I guess because the realization came pretty gradually over the course of a codeine haze that went on for about a week.
There were support groups in rehab, but I didn't go to any of them because I felt fine mentally. Plus I had friends/family visiting me regularly, that helped.
Typing isn't the least bit hard. It's all just hunt n peck /w my index fingers and thumb.
The hardest part is hitting the left button on a game controller or the Z button on N64
