The AFC is there for the taking this year. It's up for grabs. Whichever team gets to 6-1 (Texans or Ravens) has a great chance. It would be nice if we can get to 6-1 going into a much needed bye week. And then they'll have two weeks to prepare for the Bills. LOL

The only tough games we have left after the Ravens game: Lions, Patriots, Bears, Vikings and maybe the two games against the Colts? They did beat Green Bay and we're 0-10 all time at Indianapolis. At the very least the road game at Indy will be a tough game. I'm thinking 12-4 will be enough to take the 1st seed in the AFC this year especially if you own the tiebreaker. Houston still has a shot at it. But they've got to beat the Ravens on Sunday.

We can afford to lose one or two, maybe even three or four games to an NFC team. Can't lose the tiebreakers - head to heads (first tiebreaker) and conference games (second tiebreaker). I'd rather lose to the Packers, Lions and Bears for example, as oppose to the Ravens and Patriots.

The Texans are still where they want to be. They control their own destiny for that 1st seed in the AFC Playoffs.

Good teams, great teams, Super Bowl winning teams have regular-season games where they get absolutely embarrassed.

We need to use last night's 42-24 loss to the Packers as a positive moving forward. Back in the off-season when the NFL Network was airing random games from the past. They were airing a 1994 regular-season game between the 49ers and Eagles. The Eagles absolutely crushed a talented 49ers team at Candlestick Park by a final score of 40-8. An unbelievable 32-point beatdown over a 49ers team that was favored by 6.5 points at home in that game. All the 49ers did was rally behind that one blowout loss, finished 13-3 and went on to win the Super Bowl.

I've seen worse games by better teams. When you lose 42-24 or 40-8, that's when you find out what your team is really made of moving forward. Some people are already blaming Gary Kubiak for the bad playcalling and want him fired. LOL, that's just crazy. People are overreacting about one loss on the TexansTalk forums.

First half penalties killed us, and never really bounced back.

We will come back and play hard against the ravens on sunday..

Somebody needs to light a fire under Connor Barwin's ass. He's been MIA all year long. 11 total tackles and 0 sacks in 6 games? He also had that costly personal foul penalty when he jumped on the back of some Packer's lineman during a field goal attempt. That cost us 4 points and any chance we had at a comeback. That was just one of the many personal fouls and penalties.

Whitney Mercilus has played 75 % less snaps and has 6 tackles in 6 games compared to Barwin. I like the idea of starting him until Barwin is ready to play better. Our defense can still be good without Cushing but certain guys have to play a lot better. We can't just be a one man defense with J.J. Watt. Even though he had two sacks on Aaron Rodgers the Packers did a good job using two blockers to take him out of the game. I also saw three guys on him at times. He may have had three or four sacks otherwise.

The winner of the Texans and Ravens game will be 6-1 and in control of the 1st seed in the AFC -- really a two game lead because they'll own the tiebreaker over the other 5-2 team. It's probably the biggest game of the year for both teams.

J.J. Watt needs 13.5 sacks in his final 10 games to break Strahan's single-season record of 22.5. If he can sack Flacco two or three times on Sunday I think he'll have a great shot to do it. If the NFL didn't take away one of his sacks against the Dolphins from Week 1 he'd be even closer right now.

He was the only guy who showed up against the Packers last game. Two sacks on Rodgers. He's due for a three-sack game soon.

John McClain thinks the Texans will beat the Ravens and Bills their next two games. And enter their next Sunday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears with a 7-1 record. It's possible the Bears will also be 7-1 going into that game if they don't lose until then.

McClain: Texans should be 7-1 before their next Sunday night game

The Texans should beat Baltimore for the first time. Revenge should be sweet against a team that’s defeated them three times in the last two seasons, including 20-13 in last season’s playoffs. The Texans should enter the bye week with a 6-1 record. After the bye, they play Buffalo at Reliant Stadium. It’ll be Mario Williams’ homecoming. The Bills are 3-3. The Texans should beat them.

The way I see it, the Texans should be 7-1 at the midway point of the season. Before the season, who wouldn’t have been happy with a 7-1 record? The answer is nobody.

Now, if the Texans aren’t 7-1, then something is wrong. If they lose to the Ravens, they’ll have to return to the proverbial drawing board. If they lose to the Ravens and Bills to fall to 5-3 with a three-game losing streak, then hit the PANIC BUTTON!!!

I think the Texans have too much talent to lose to the Ravens and Bills. I think they’ll be 7-1 entering another Sunday night game. This one will be at Chicago, and if the Texans don’t play better against the Bears than they did against the Packers, they may never get another Sunday night game.

What? They have a deal signed with Reliant Stadium to play in Houston for another 25 years at the minimum.

Houston may host the Super Bowl again in 2017. They're going to be one of two finalists. Maybe that's what you heard.

http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2012/10/houston-a-finalist-for-2017-super-bowl/

Houston has 50-50 shot at 2017 Super Bowl

If everything goes according to an ambitious plan devised by city and county leaders, Houston will host its third Super Bowl in 2017. The NFL informed the Texans and the city on Tuesday that Houston will be one of two finalists for Super Bowl LI, to be played in February 2017.

“I’m delighted,” Texans owner Bob McNair said. “To be selected as a finalist for 51 makes me very happy for the city and the fans.”

McNair also played a significant role in Houston’s hosting Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.

It would be the third Super Bowl that the city of Houston, Texas has hosted. The other two were in 2004 and 1974.
