Definitely, for all we know he (DMC) could come out beasting this season.

Is the assumption for right now, that it'll be around a 10-15ish carry rotation for each of them?

That's my assumption, at least. I think you can get the best out of both backs if you split the carries pretty evenly and keep them both relatively fresh. I know Dennis Allen loves our 3rd string guy Latavius Murray too. It'll for sure be one of the most interesting camp battles to see how McFadden and MJD get reps with first/second team.

I'd agree with all of that. It may very well be the most interesting RB camp battle in the whole league this coming season.

I can't say that I know anything about that Murray kid, but he definitely has good size and speed. He's a legit 6'2, 220 with sub 4.5 speed it looks like yea?

Yeah he's supposed to be a baller. He ran a 4.38 at his pro day, and he really follows his blocks well. He's patient and has good vision in the backfield.

McFadden will be more effective coming out of the backfield receiving and as a change of pace guy than he was as the feature back due to durability issues. I think MJD takes the majority of the carries, maybe 2:1 or 1.5:1, even if McFadden is healthy most of the season.

Even if MJD has lost most of his speed, he has good vision and our o-line has improved a LOT...and we run blocked pretty well last season. With MJD's awareness and game sense, and a reasonably proficient O-line, we could actually see another year of strong rushing from Oakland. If only we knew enough to keep it on the ground and not throw 40+ times a game.

Yeah just another depth guy in the DE rotation. Nothing special but a good move.

So who do you guys THINK we take at 5 as of now? Not who you want, but who you think we take?

I would bet Khalil Mack. High motor guy, great character, and a stud defender. That just sounds like McKenzie/Allen. If not him, I think we'll take Watkins. I would be happy with either. Both fill needs.

We probably take a trade.

WR depth is okay now, but Watkins would be very welcome.
OL is set, so I doubt we take OL.
We are full up on DE, so Clowney/Barr look unlikely.
We are also stacked at LB, so Mack is probably a no-go.
QB is honestly still an option. I could definitely see Allen drafting a young QB, letting him sit for a season behind Schaub, learn the ropes, then letting him go to town next season.

I see trading back as our best bet. After not re-signing Woodson, we should be looking to pick up a safety in the draft. Trade back 5 or so picks, get a safety without reaching, and call it a day.
You really want your 1st round pick to be able to step in and make an immediate impact, and I don't see a lot of positions where that's the case. So I'm banking on trade > QB > WR.

Sitting behind a very seasoned Pro like MJD for a year or two could do him wonders. Maybe MJD will take him under his wing, much like Fred Taylor did with MJD when we drafted him. MJD used to rave about how Freddy T helped him early in his career. About how he showed him how to prepare for games, how to keep his body healthy etc etc. I can definitely see MJD passing on some of that knowledge to the young kid.

We did re-sign Woodson.

I think with Kevin Burnett getting pretty old, Mack might make sense at the LB position. Growing a core of Roach/Moore/Mack would be amazing. It would be like the Niners' Willis/Bowman/Brooks, but obviously not at that level.
