A running back that's a special teams expert ... that has been to the Pro Bowl twice because of his exceptional play ... that is unsigned ... is very hard to find. But the Detroit Lions just found one.
The Lions announced on Thursday they have signed Montell Owens. Owens started four games last season with Jacksonville. proofootballtalk.com says Owens spoke with Buffalo before signing with the Lions.
Since choosing not to re-sign Stefan Logan, the Lions have been searching for a solid kick returner. They didn't land Josh Cribbs, who was also a Pro Bowl kick returner. So could Owens be that man? Both Cribbs and Owens had been released from their last teams -- the Jags released Owens earlier this month; Cribbs was released by Cleveland in March before signing with Oakland.
