3rd round, and trading helps reassure you get the player where in the open market plenty of teams would have tried to sign him. Don't think it's as lopsided as you think... cousins clearly had no intention of coming back and they had to make a move to stay relavent. Losing a 3rd and a slot CB isn't that big of a loss vs what their options were.

You completely ignored the fact that Smith was going to be gone next year anyway and the Chiefs got fairly nice compensation for him instead of cutting him and getting nothing.

I'm saying by the redskins standpoint. I thought it was obvious the chiefs did well by getting something rather than nothing, didn't think that needed to be stated cuz obvious. I'm just talking about how the skins didn't have to go into a bidding war and potentially have no QB at all if he were a FA
