Well Arizona and the Rams could have down years. But the fact we play Seattle and the 49ers, the Patriots, the Broncos twice. And then I can see the Browns and Miami actually being good next year.

But strength of schedule in my opinion is a very over valued metric. So many things change from season to season. Injuries really ruin teams. The Falcons went from being in the NFC championship game to being a bottom 10 team. The Redskins went from having hope and a future to being the Redskins we know. The Ravens went from winning the Super Bowl to not making the playoffs. But I guess the fact they lost Lewis and some other guys and Pitta getting injured could be argued that was to be expected. And the Steelers played like absolute dog shit until the latter part of the season.

I mean i certainly agree our chances look grim based on our schedule, but I mean things can be different and most likely will be. The parity in the NFL is very much relevant. Sure you have teams who consistently are relevant but there are countless surprises and new faces being in the hunt every year.

I'd say hoping for a playoff appearance is wishful thinking but even though the offseason could have arguably went a lot better, we have done well in my opinion. We are for sure a better team than we have been in recent years. I'm pretty excited to see where we go this season. We still got a draft and maybe more to go down. It's a good time for the Raiders. But who knows, maybe we will go down some more years of being dogshit.

Over the last week or so we've been making some big improvements in FA. Haven't signed the young talent I wanted to go after, but we've certainly added skill along with age. We're without a doubt a better team than last year, but it's not an opportune time to make this kind of a push. We'll see how this pans out a few years down the road (and especially next season when we won't be playing against the NFC West).

Would definitely be one of the best FA moves we've made this off season. Schaub, DJax, and some of the OL pickups were huge.

29 is the wall for RBs in the NFL. There's few RBs who can continue to plug away successfully after they hit that magic number of 29. He has had 2,139 career touches in the NFL (not counting the 94 kick off/punt returns he had early in his career). Add all those touches onto his bruising running style, he has taken a huge pounding. He also wanted $3.5 million per year. I dunno what the numbers are on the 3 year deal, but if you guys paid him that, then you guys definitely overpaid for a beat up RB who's at the tail end of his career.

You also have to figure he'll have fresher legs if we split carries between him and DMC/Murray. It's not like we want him to be a feature back, per se.

Do you know the numbers yet on his deal?

Do you guys have much faith in DMC staying healthy all season long, to be able to split the carries?

I know MJD was coming off the foot surgery last season, but even when he was getting healthier towards the end of the year, it still looked like he was running with cement in his shoes. His speed is no more, but he can still be effective in short yardage.

Nah, nothing yet. And I have way more faith in DMC staying healthy if he's getting ~10-13 carries a game in a change-of-pace setting rather than him being our every down back. Obviously, time will tell and history definitely isn't on his side, but who's to say right now.

Definitely, for all we know he (DMC) could come out beasting this season.

Is the assumption for right now, that it'll be around a 10-15ish carry rotation for each of them?
