Because they're fucking delicious. Then again I've never had cat or dog (there's a virgin never had pussy joke in there somewhere) so who am I to knock it.
Cat and dog are probably pretty good. I'd eat it. I knew a guy who was deployed in the navy and tried dog. He said it wasn't the meat that mattered but the sauce.

Motherfucker, if you somehow remove bacon from my life, I will lead the jsp pitchfork mob to hunt your ass down

bacon is so fucking overrated...
salted turkey bacon is just as good.
Bacon is easily my least favorite cut of meat. Seriously, I can (and usually do) eat meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I've never understood why people go apeshit over bacon.

I still am okay with eating meat, but there is just something about cool animals.. I don't think they should be killed. Especially big cats like bobcats and mountain lions, which are hunted for sport or simply trapped for their skins, which has got to be an agonizing way to die.
Plus I see the points made by animal rights people regarding the living conditions of most farm-raised livestock (chickens get the worst of it), but there isn't even any place around here where I can buy more humane meat, at least not that I know of
Pigs are fucking awesome pets, supposedly. Seriously, youtube some pig videos. They're shockingly cute.
And pretty much all farmed meat is incredibly cruel. I would totally be vegan if it wouldn't end with me putting a bullet in my head. I just couldn't live without meat, so now I just try not to think about it too much.
We should be giving animals we slaughter a quality life before they're harvested. I don't have a problem eating another animal, but I do want that animal to have a quality existence before they are made into food.
Circle of life.
