The Jacksonville Jaguars attended the Richmond Pro Day on Tuesday, likely checking out safety Cooper Taylor. The Jaguars have a dire need at the safety position right now, especially after releasing veteran safety Dawan Landry last week, leaving the team with just three safeties on the roster right now.
Taylor, who clocks in as one of the biggest safeties in the 2013 NFL Draft at 6'4" and 229 pounds, posted some impressive measurables at the Richmond Pro Day, posting what would be excellent numbers for a linebacker of his size. Taylor ran the 40-yard dash in times of 4.45 and 4.53, which is much faster than I expected him to run and put up 23 reps on the bench press.
Taylor also posted a 36.5" vertical jump as well as a 10'7" broad jump. In the agility drills, Taylor graded out excellent for his size with a 4.2 short shuttle and a 6.9 3-cone time which would have ranked him right at the same pace with some of the top safeties and corners in the draft.
In the Jaguars defense going forward, Taylor would be used as the "bandit" safety, similar to that of Kam Chancellor in Seattle where he operates as basically a fourth linebacker covering a shallow zone and the flat. When I was at the East-West Shrine Game practices and he surprised me with how fluid he was for his size and did a nice job picking up the backs and tight ends in coverage.

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley will be heading out to hold a private workout with two UCLA defenders next week, according to Tony Pauline. Bradley will be working with cornerback Sheldon Price and defensive lineman Datone Jones, both of which seem to fit into the Jaguars new defensive scheme going forward.
Jones, who measured in at just under 6'4" and 283 pounds, would seem to fit as a defensive lineman who can play the five-technique defensive end role and also kick inside to play the three-technique on passing downs. Jones had down year his final season at UCLA, but the talent was still there as he lit up the Senior Bowl week of practice showing to be one of the toughest lineman to block all week. He would seem to be a perfect fit to fill the Jason Jones role with the Seahawks, flipping inside and out depending on the down and distance.
Price on the other hand was a corner who struggled at times on defense for UCLA, but he's a big corner with long arms that Bradley seems to like to use in his defense, which utilizes press coverage on the outside. Price will likely need to add some weight, at 6'2" and around 190 pounds, but coming in as rookie he can still compete at the corner position. He has decent ball skills and will need to work on his technique in press coverage, but he seems like a player that with proper coaching could blossom into a solid cornerback.
