FROM BALTIMORE SUN:
Le’Ron McClain declared himself healthy and ready to play in the Ravens’ contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night.
“I’m going to be ready for Sunday,” said the fullback, who has been battling a sprained left ankle suffered in the team’s 17-10 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. “It’s just depends on the coaches and whether they want to use me Sunday or not. I know we’ve got the guys with the young tight ends stepping in and doing some great things. I know [offensive coordinator] Cam [Cameron] has got a plan if I’m playing and if I don’t.”
McClain had missed the previous two days of practice, but returned Friday. He said he took reps with the first offense, getting involved in pass blocking and handling a few carries.
“I felt good today,” said McClain, who wore a plastic brace around the ankle and had the ankle and shoe heavily taped. “No pain or anything. I went out there and had a good practice.”
McClain said he was not too concerned about possibly sitting out Sunday night’s clash with the Steelers.
“I knew it wasn’t that serious when it didn’t have any swelling in it,” he said. “I just knew it was all pain. It was about working out the kinks in my ankle. I went out today and had a good practice.”
