They could just franchise tag him. There is really no reason that GB shouldn't do that. It sucks for Jones but like you said these guy can fall off the face of the earth in a year. Look at Bell or Gurley, went from getting huge contracts to nobody wanting to soak up there contracts soon after signing large deals.

Yeah, but it lets them sort out the other 26 players entering FA, and buys them time to figure out what the game plan is for the upcoming draft and who to pursue in the FA market.

Williams and Jones both seem to love playing for this team, but history does not bode well for them. Might be time to change the off-season rulebook a bit and pay them.
