A running back isn't the position to expect to get a paycut from. Their careers are shortest in the NFL usually and they get pennies on the dollar on their rookie contracts because they rarely get drafted high. Jones was 5th Rounder so he hasn't made much money and is extremely unlikely to take a discount. Linsley is most likely gone after the year. Which is ok because they had to let someone go, he's been really good this year but unfortunately the other guys are more important.
Oh 100%. Was just commenting on what nede said. But that's probably the only scenario where we get to keep him. With all the players that have contracts ending, I could definitely see them going with Williams and Dillon going forward. I truly hope that's not the case, but we haven't really seen a skill position player like him hit the market since Gute took over. Haven't had a threat like him since Ahman Green tbh.

Green and Levens probably the closest to his skill level, though I was way too young to care about their paychecks then
^Cheesehead you got any input regarding their contracts compared to the rest of the league at their time?
Yeah. Grant couldn't string more than a season and a half of good games to merit a big deal. We could tag Jones for like 13 mil and let Jamaal walk, but there are 29 players with contracts ending and the FO will let most walk I'd wager given the way they've handled the last couple off-seasons. They want their own players and not leftovers from the TT era.
God I hope they bring back Big Dog. He's Rodgers best friend on the team. The wiley vets. Could see a big overhaul between this year and next
