So lay it on me boys.... Just how bad does safety Josh Jones really suck?

We traded our SS because Jones has supposedly looked better in camp and was going to take his starting spot. I know you guys dumped him after 2 seasons and the Cowboys dropped him after a handful of games.

Pretty much the standard super athlete that never translated into a starter. He was forced into roles that he didn't perform well at and never was able to separate himself from the pack. The only time his name was even used in a broadcast was when GB used that awful "Nitro" package that really just let him roam and pressure the pocket and he still got exposed for being out of position. Great measurables but lackluster performance.

Makes a lot of mistakes.

This article pretty much sums it up. He's older and more mature now so hopefully he'll pan out to what we drafted him for

Ok so that makes me feel a little better. He really didn't have a set position to learn/grow at and some mystery illness didn't help matters. Whether that illness was just a bruised ego or not, we'll may never know.

They wont try and get too cute with him in this scheme. He wont be roaming or anything like that (at least he shouldn't be, would be a bit of a change). Mostly a box SS who will be playing down hill. This scheme is either 4-3 base, or 4-2-5 in nickel (which we play the most) and DJ Hayden is the nickel CB. We don't play that hybrid S/LB nickel role.

One thing is for sure though... Wont be long before we find out  Thanks for the input my dudes.

I think that was the goal when he was drafted because we were having ILB issues when he was drafted (remember Clay playing the inside? Rofl) but how many talented DBs have you seen leave GB and find success elsewhere? McCarthy played every defensive player out of position and then they were let go. I'd be optimistic to have him in a fresh scheme and a defined role.

Thought I posted but Begelton, Shepherd and Alex Light made it to the PS. Can almost guarantee 2 of those 3 get on the active roster before season end
