I'll be sure to tell the author that his article was pointless and to remove it from cbssports. A new GM and HC definitely has changed the way we do things now, but I think this is getting a bit diluted from my original point which was that not only did we trade up to get the lad, but he was signed quickly and got a fully guaranteed deal. Pretty hard to make a bigger statement about how much they trust him going forward and what that means for ARod
Idk what your original point was but it wasn't current. I just commented on the contract he signed. They did get the contract done quick compared to other teams, they do seem to be sending a message. I think the message is also aimed towards Rodgers, because reports have mentioned that even though it appears that Rodgers and LaFleur get along well on camera and say the right things to the media that there is tension behind closed doors because there is a big difference in how they both want the offense to go. Lafleur wants a run heavy approach with more play-action and Rodgers does not.
Rodgers is very powerful because of his contract and his backing by the fan base. He's basically untradeable the next 2-3 years because of the dead cap money he'd create and he knows he's basically a lock to be the QB in Green Bay no matter what for that time frame. I think there is some message behind the Love being done that quick but other messages came during the draft by not taking a WR and taking a RB with their 2nd pick that the GM is supporting Lafleur's approach over Rodgers(which he should).
Honestly though I'm not that impressed by Love. Lots of potential for sure but had major issues with turnovers last year. 17 is a lot of interceptions in a college season no matter what the situation is.
