The Jaguars filled their secondary coach position on Tuesday by hiring a collegiate head coach as DeWayne Walker will leave his position as the head coach of the New Mexico State Aggies to take the position, according to Zach Barnett of Football Scoop.
Walker, 52, had a professional playing career in the CFL and USFL before entering the coaching ranks in 1988. After 10 years at the collegiate level, Walker joined the New England Patriots as a defensive backs coach and made stops with the USC Trojans, New York Giants and Washington Redskins at the same position before he was named the defensive coordinator for the UCLA Bruins.
On Dec. 31, 2008, Walker was named the head coach at NMSU but was very unsuccessful at turning the poor football school around. In four seasons, he posted a combined record of 10-40 before leaving to accept the Jaguars job.
Tony Oden served as the secondary coach for the Jaguars in 2012 after holding the same position with the New Orleans Saints in 2011.

The Jaguars coaching staff is just about assembled, as one more major piece reportedly fell in place on Wednesday as Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com reports that the team has decided to hire former-Arizona Wildcats quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo to the same position in Jacksonville.
Scelfo, 53, originally was a coach at the prep level for 14 seasons before joining the Tulane Green Wave. After three years with the team, he was promoted to offensive coordinator at Tulane where he worked closely with four different Green Wave quarterbacks that all ended up in the NFL: J.P. Losman, Patrick Ramsey, Shaun King and former-Jaguars quarterback Lester Ricard.
After eight seasons at Tulane, Scelfo was hired as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Three seasons later he joined Arizona as a quarterbacks coach and worked with Nick Foles and Matt Scott for two seasons.
However, in 2012 Rich Rodriguez was hired as the head coach of the Wildcats and brought Rod Smith with him from Michigan to coach quarterbacks. Scelfo told Mike Schmitz of the Arizona Daily Wildcat that he didn't want to "take a job to take a job" and instead elected to take a "redshirt year" from coaching.
