More on Josh McCowns injury

A league source confirmed to PewterReport.com on Saturday morning that Bucs quarterback Josh McCown has a significant thumb sprain and could miss “a few weeks.” The source also told PewterReport.com that McCown would see a specialist this week to determine the severity and treatment options.
While it doesn’t look good for McCown to start next Sunday at Pittsburgh, it hasn’t been completely ruled out he could possibly be under center when Tampa Bay faces the Steelers on September 26.
McCown injured his thumb on Thursday night in Atlanta. Following the game Thursday night McCown talked about the injury.
“It might have happened on the sack or it might have happened on my last throw (to Vincent Jackson). I either got it hit by a helmet or when the defender landed on me as my thumb was under me when I hit the ground.”
McCown, signed as a free agent from Chicago back in March, has had a disappointing season through three games in Tampa Bay, throwing four interceptions and just one touchdown pass. McCown has added two rushing touchdowns this season.
Second-year quarterback Mike Glennon will start in McCown’s place if he is unable to play. Glennon started 13 games as a rookie in 2013 and had 19 touchdown passes with just nine interceptions.
