Noteworthy Cuts
Forsett is surprising. Granted, he looked pretty average as a RB, but I figured he was better than Buck Allen, who looked awful. Guess West is the undisputed #1 RB now until Dixon gets healthy.
I still think Ducasse will get the Billy Bajema treatment and be re-signed after week 1, serving as that veteran guy with a non-guaranteed base salary whom you can cut/re-sign a million times to make roster moves.
Kind of thought we might be able to trade Josh Johnson for a conditional 7th or someone else's impending cut--guess not.
Arthur Brown was always destined to be cut, no surprise there.
Terrance Brooks is a surprise cut. With Elam out for several weeks, I figured Brooks was a lock to make the roster, since now we only have 3 healthy safeties (if you consider Levine a safety). He isn't very good in coverage though, and frankly there's probably better safeties who've just been cut.
Really thought Butler had a roster spot locked-down. He looked like one of our best WRs.
KLM was an expected cut. Too much DL depth. He'll make someone else's roster.
Victor Ochi getting cut makes me sad. Maybe he makes the PS somehow...
Keenan Reynolds will make the PS.
Really none of the IR'd players make a lot of sense to me. Campanaro seems like he just could have been cut, same with Wesley and Chris Matthews. I guess the advantage is you can use the IR-designated to return option on them if you're utterly desperate.
Noteworthy players who were not cut
I guess the coaching staff really likes Jerraud Powers for some reason, since he looked like complete garbage in preseason.
And I guess they value Hurst's versatility, even though he looked awful at guard and we already know he's awful at T.
Chris Carter is still here... that must have been a Harbaugh overemphasis on special teams decision, since Ochi has way more upside at the same position.
Kendrick Lewis is injured and garbage even when healthy, yet he's still here instead of Brooks.
Michael Pierce made the roster, happy about that. He could be our starting NT next year after B.Williams leaves.
