http://blogs.detroitlions.com/2013/04/11/lions-sign-left-footed-kicker-havard-rugland-kickalicious/

The Lions have a new kicker and he’s “Kickalicious.”

The team signed Norwegian kicking sensation Havard Rugland to a contract Thursday to compete for their kicking job left vacant by Jason Hanson’s retirement. Terms of the deal were not known.

Rugland will compete with newly signed David Akers for the job. Both players are left-footed, which should make it easy on the holders this offseason.

Rugland is trying to parlay his incredible trick-shot video — which he called “Kickalicious” — into a job kicking for an NFL team.

The Lions brought Rugland in for a tryout last month but did not sign him at the time.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said at the NFL League Meetings last month that the team first learned about him from the internet video and through league channels.

Rugland is 6-foot-2 1/2 and 240 pounds and became familiar with the sport only a couple years ago. He has been training with former NFL kicker Michael Husted in San Diego since November of 2012 and has followed the career former NFL kicker and native Norwegian Jan Stenerud, one of only three kickers currently in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He’s also reportedly had workouts for the Browns and Jets before signing with the Lions.

If this video is legit, this guy can fucking boot it, and I look forward to seeing him play for sure.

I'll be really disappointed if we don't take Ansah... he looks like a real stud. There's no use to keep Suh on our roster if we can't line him up with a stud defensive end

I would freaking love ziggy, its tough to say what we need really.
Worse case scenario for us

Kansas takes Luke
Jaguars take Ziggy
Raiders take Milliner
Eagles take Fisher

That would be the shittiest imo, we could still get Jordan but I like ziggy for our D better than jordan

Sort of true. It will work with a good defensive end. Does not need to be #5 worthy.

Fisher is the best option (assuming iggles don't take). We cannot afford to risk Stafford (more than he already is with Fox and Rieff having to step up this year). If he goes down the season will be lost.

I can't believe we haven't taken a hard look at Andre Smith... we really need to make our defense elite and Ansah reminds me of Giants' JPP.
