Not to knock Wilson but the Seahawks are an example of what happens when you don't have an elite QB. You get somebody that can get you by with an elite unit on either side of the ball and some playmakers. Now that they actually have to pay those guys, they're struggling to compete. The same thing will happen with the Eagles if Wentz doesn't get to a Rodgers/Brady level. They can't afford to keep the defense together long term so they'll have to keep hitting on draft picks. Nobody other than BB has been able to do it long term in recent history.

Russel Wilson has averaged 41.3 sacks per years since entering the league. Taking into account every 15-16 game season Rodgers has played he averages 38.8 a year. It’s not about being a homer it’s about the fact that Rodgers gets sacked less. Sacks do have a direct correlation to bad offensive line play but it also fails take into account QB hits taken or if the QB just held the ball too long.
