I suppose.

I have high hopes! Was really hoping to land Fangio but... anybody > #FireCapers

The fact that they wanted all the pieces in place so fast is a good sign too. Apparently the interviews with Pettine and Gutie went really really well. Nothing we can really do as fans but speculate right now. I'm a little uncomfortable with the hire, but who the fuck knows

Gotta feel for Wolf. Spend two decades being groomed for your dream job. The time comes and not only do you not get it, but the team blocks you from interviewing elsewhere. Pretty shitty way to handle him.

Wut

He's already interviewed with the Browns and the Raiders have an offer out for him.

I typically despise Demovsky, but he had the information I was looking for so I'll share:

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22017737/mike-pettine-hired-green-bay-packers-defensive-coordinator

"Pettine worked under Ryan as his defensive coordinator with the New York Jets from 2009 to 2012. His Jets defenses ranked first, third, fifth and eighth. He spent the 2013 season as the Bills' defensive coordinator, and his unit ranked 10th."

"McCarthy fired Capers after the Packers finished 7-9 and ranked 22nd in total defense.

That's the fourth time it has finished in the bottom third of the NFL in the past seven years, including a dead-last ranking in 2011. Capers had not finished with a top-10 defense since the Packers' Super Bowl season of 2010, when it ranked fifth. The Packers have finished outside the top 15 in the defensive rankings six of the past seven years.."

So we have 2 former head coaches working under McCautious it seems and their fates are likely tied to how GB performs in the next 2 seasons. If McCautious bites the dust, these two are likely gone as well. I do enjoy the fact that it's the biggest overhaul possible without completely reinventing the wheel. Rodgers & Co. needed a scenery change but pulling the rug out from under them completely wouldn't really help our "win now" mentality.

I don't blame Pettine for the Browns and his stint with them for 2 reasons: He did better than anyone else that's come in there after him who have had arguably better rosters & I don't know anyone that could realistically put out that dumpster fire of a franchise.

He was also blocked from interviewing with the Lions under the pretense that the Packers were considering him. They strung him along for years under the idea that he would get the job once TT was done and as recently as last year reupped thatby giving him a raise and the belief he’d be the GB GM to stop him from leaving a year ago.
