Cam sucked but the team didn't help him out either
The guy was throwing at the receivers feet....no excuses for Cam

Cam will be a different player in those 4th and 1/inches situations with the 2 TEs. HUGE difference imo.

I’m optimistic that you’re right. He should have a much better season with an improved line and some additional weapons, but many of the losses we suffered last year rest heavily on Cams shoulders. His inability to convert on short yardage, his hesitancy ar the line, and his horrible accuracy at anything past 10 yards (partly due to receivers failing to separate), cost us a playoff spot without a doubt in my mind.

If Cam can sharpen up and regain his confidence, we’ve got a chance at being a decent unit. I don’t believe we’ll be a contender with Cam running the show, but it’s entirely possible he’ll do well enough to build confidence in the team and to help us develop his replacement.

Either way, I’m fucking hyped for this season and to see how we utilize those TEa

E: I’d ignore that guy, he’s an idiot or a troll, either way it’s not worth the effort.

Cam finished
24th Yards (177/game)
33rd TDs
30th in QBR (garbage stat, but still relevant)
Had more INTs than TDs
Sure, he had some rushing TDs, but if you’re not box scoring and you actually watched, you’d realize those never came when it mattered.

You’d have to be a special kind of stupid to insult people for wanting more out of a QB. How dare we fairweather douchenozzles want our QB to perform at least in the top 50% of QBs, what an outrageous thing to want.

Yes, ignore me but keep trying to argue points against me in the most passive-aggressive pansy ass way you can on a message board. T Y P I C A L P A T R I O T S F A N

I could give two shits what any of you think/believe. You need to field a good team to be a good team. The Patriots weren't a good team last year and QB was pretty far down on the list for reasons why I don't care what the stats were. Proof is in the pudding, puddin'. Tom Brady left because he knew that offense was shit. Bill Belichick upgraded Every. Single. Position. on that offense in 2021 and still brought Cam Newton back. Why would he do that if he thought Cam failed the team, or like you put it "couldn't hit the broadside of two barns!!!!" If they were just a Qb away from being a good team, Cam wouldn't be on the roster and all of the guys that just got replaced would still be there. You guys don't make any sense lmfao.

Literally no one has argued that they’re a complete team or that a QB is their only need. You being too stupid to understand how making a point works, certainly helps to explain why you’re hyping up a QB who averaged 177 passing yards + .5 TDs per game.

While you’re probably trolling, since I doubt any rando multi coming here starting shit is actually this dumb, I’ll try one last time to dumb this down for you.

NE has generally cheaped out on offensive skill positions, they’ve managed to get by with some creative repurposing and tactics, which allowed NE to get a lot out of underperforming and unknown assets (Edelman being the most recent example). In fact, the lack of weapons and BB being unwilling to acquire weapons + accept input from players were two of the reasons Brady left (good for him btw, I’m incredibly happy for the guy). With that in mind, what was NE’s record in 2019? Did they make the playoffs? Did they go under .500 even though the roster was weak? No, the team relied heavily on the defense (which remained strong), and they won the division and made the playoffs, as per usual.

I’m not going to bother with this conversation anymore, but if you’re not trolling (which I really fucking hope you are), I implore you to go back and watch some of the games from last year. Cam was a bad QB last year, he held the team back severely, and NE undoubtedly would have made the playoffs with Brady, and gone over .500 with a QB who performed in the middle statistically.

E: inb4 he brings up Newton’s almost entirely garbage time running stats that hurt the team far more than they helped after week 4.

You are like a little hamster on that hamster wheel running himself into a tizzy! Thought I was being ignored?! Must have struck a nerve. Anyways, at the end of the day Bill Belichick brought Cam Newton back for a 2nd season and upgraded the offense around him in a MASSIVE way while replacing all of the dead weight he had to carry last year. I'd trust his judgement over some message board 'tards any day of the week. As I said before, proof is in the pudding, puddin'. Tom knew he couldn't carry this team without any weapons and Bill didn't have the money to bring in Free agents in a Covid year. Cam did his damndest to carry this team to a winning record and he was close. Got them to 7-8. Had he not got Covid after week 4 I'd bet $$ he would have made it over .500 and challenged the Bills for the division. It's just sad Pats fans such as yourselves would rather trash him than applaud him for his efforts because he had so much working against him in 2020. No other FA Qb was going to do any better joining the team in late July and trying to learn that 20 year system in a month with no preseason games. Wasn't going to happen but as always believe what you like!

Yep, 2020 was all Cam Newtons fault why the Patriots offense struggled

nice, bill never says positive only things about players. never ever has this happened before, this is a rare occurrence and should be treated as empirical evidence to your claims
