All about the two TE sets this year. Cam struggled to hit the broadside of a barn last year, so we gave him two barns to throw at, hopefully he can hit one. As long as BB stops allowing Cam to run in 4th and inches or goal line situations, then I’ll consider that a huge win. It felt like every single stupidly short yardage situation or must score moment they’d put it on Cams legs. Then he’d dance around in the backfield for way too long and take a loss, or he’d crumple the second he was touched. You think we’d at least be able to teach him how to sneak the fucking ball like Brady did.

E: Not expecting him to sneak it that well of course, but it seems like something they’d at least try and teach the guy.

It really is funny to me how much hate/disrespect Cam gets from the casual ass NE fan base. You can tell the ones who actually know what they're talking about rather easily. Cam was not nearly as bad last year as most spoiled/cry baby Pats fans will lead you to believe. After 3 games and before Cam got Covid he was being mentioned as an early MVP candidate. Hard to believe because he was such an INACCURATE passer who struggled to hit the broadside of a barn huh? Well let's break it down shall we? in 15 games Cam Newton threw the ball 368 times. He completed 242 of those passes, meaning he only threw 126 incompletions which translates to about ~ 8 incompletions per game. You are hating on a dude that completed 66% of his passes and averaged only EIGHT incompletions PER GAME. He also threw 10 interceptions (50% of those came in back to back games when he returned from getting COVID-19). It's pretty sad he gets as much hate as he does when he did everything he could to help the Patriots be a decent team last year. You know the team that had the most COVID-19 opt outs of ANY team last year. He didn't start learning the playbook until July, no preseason games, hardly even had a training camp, and who the hell were his WRs/TEs last year? Lmao. He's literally learning the offense on the fly during regular season games. What other QB in NFL history has had to do such things? All the while trying to appease the spoiled whiney ass NE fanbase. Go ahead and blame Cam. It won't be long before you guys start doing the same to thing to Mac Jones. Can't wait to see it.

Good player sure. But you might be the only guy I’ve ever seen arguing for his accuracy

qbr is a trash stat and sure Cam isn't the most accurate passer in NFL history but he is a hell of a lot better than people give him credit for. And to hold last season over his head as the metric of his ability is just silly to me because of the situation he was in. Was he perfect last year? Of course not but you honestly can't sit there and name a team that had less talent at WR/TE/RB than the New England Patriots in 2020. I only name RB because Damien Harris didn't even play until like week 4 or something. Hell I bet you can't even go back 5 years and find a worse collection of skill position players than Damiere Byrd and N'Keal Harry. Why do you think Tom Brady chose 2020 of ALL years to leave the Pats? After a 20 year career? He knew what the situation was and made a business decision and left them high and dry which is what Cam should have done so they could have gone 0-16 because that's exactly what that fan base deserves

2018 67% completion rating
2019 injured for 14 games
2020 65.7% completion rating

I mean does he have to throw for 70% AND be the best running QB in football to get ANY sort of respect? How does that make sense?

I love idiots who don’t actually watch football acting big, it’s adorable.

Just your typical boxscore warrior who doesn’t actually watch, or at the least understand, the game. Cam was ass last year, and anyone who disagrees is just clueless.

Guy tossed more INTs than TDs but he was an MVP candidate, we talking about after 3-4 weeks before he fell off a fucking cliff? Brilliant

E Also good to know that completion % is apparently the only metric to judge greatness by, you learn new things every day.

About the response I expected from someone who doesn't know shit about what they're talking about. Thanks for proving me right, chief.

:bonk:

Cam sucked but the team didn't help him out either
The guy was throwing at the receivers feet....no excuses for Cam

Cam will be a different player in those 4th and 1/inches situations with the 2 TEs. HUGE difference imo.

For comparison sake, let's make this fun here is Lamar Jackson's 2020 stats

15gp 376 att 242 comp. 64.36 % 2757 yds 7.3 avg 47 lng 26 TD 9 INT

Cam Newton

15gp 368 att 242 comp. 65.76 % 2657 yds 7.2 avg 50 lng 8 TD 10 INT

Yes, Cam only had 8 TD passes in 2020 in 15 games. Yes, that's considered very "bad" but unlike Lamar Jackson Cam didn't even have 1/5th of the talent Lamar has on offense and Cam was also learning his offense on the fly after being out of football for the entire 2019 season. You can't sit there and say Cam is COMPLETE trash playing in the offense he was in with the "playmakers" he had. I mean the NE talent on offense was so good Bill Belichick literally went out and replaced every single player except for Jakobi Meyers as the 2nd/3rd option. Bill spent an UNPRECEDENTED amount of money on FA's for the offense this year, The WR's/TEs got pretty big upgrades. Why do you think that is? Because they had ZERO playmakers on offense. He had such a shitty number of TD passes because there was literally NO ONE TO CATCH THEM LOL. How hard is that for NE fans to understand?

Easier than for you to understand that Cam did nothing to make anyone better either.....man is AWFUL in the clutch
The QB's job is to elevate and cover up your weaknesses
Instead, Cam was so fucking bad that BB had to buy a team to cover up Cam's weakness

Yea, sure thats the reason! More like Bill (AND TOM BRADY) understands that a QB needs weapons to be successful. Why do you think Tom Brady chose 2020 of all years to leave and go win another SB in Tampa? Because he knew he couldn't do anything with that dog shit roster. If Cam was SO BAD why did Bill bring him back, AGAIN? Why not admit the experiment failed and move on? You literally just put your foot in your mouth lmfao. Typical Patriots fan.
