Cam Newton did nothing wrong. The way last season went is not his fault. I just don't understand what BB's plan here is. BB is 48 wins behind Shula's record. That's gonna take somewhere between 5 seasons (if the team is good) and 12 seasons (if the team is bad). Perhaps he has a handshake deal with the Krafts that they will let him hang around until he gets it. Then it would make sense to try and get as many wins as he can each year (hopefully at least 8) so he can beeline retirement and the team can rebuild after he's gone.

I'm not going to disagree with that characterization of Cam's compensation. But that leads us right back to where my comment started:



He's not going to keep bringing Cam back on 1 year deals for the next 5 years. Is he going to find another Cam-like option (veteran willing to take a pay cut to keep being a starter)? Or, at some point, is the team just going to bite the bullet and roll into a season starting a 2nd round pick who is still on his rookie contract?
