Couldn't be happier about the Cam signing. I'm really excited to see what McDaniels can draw up now that he has a running QB for the first time.
Normally the downside of a running QB is the threat of injury, but this year who cares. Cam has every reason to go hard since his contract is incentive-based and he will always be competing the starting job. He can't afford to make decisions that are intended to avoid injury. Even if he gets hurt, Stidham can come in and give us a chance. Hell, splitting time might even be good for Stidham's development. It shields him from some of the pressure of stepping into Brady's shoes. It gives him more time to learn the offense. It also helps from from a psychological standpoint. He's already seen Brady's legendary approach to his job as a leader. This season, he will have a chance to observe Cam and learn now not to act. Observing both extremes will give him the tools he needs when its time to take over.
