It depends on how it is prepared too. I have had venison that tasted like a goat smells. I know what you mean about in your mind thing. It's different to take the animal, gut it in the field, process it yourself, and then cook and eat it, compared to not doing and seeing the the dirty work. I take into my mind what probably goes on in the slaughter houses and meat packing plants compared to the care I take to make sure everything is as sanitary as possible and prepared properly for myself and my friends and families consumption.
