Eleven players have worn jersey No. 38 in Raiders history including a bruising running back and several athletic defensive backs.

For a total of 100 days, we'll take a look at the men who have played for the Raiders jersey number by jersey number. This series will highlight some of the greatest players in NFL history. In some cases, the player and jersey number are synonymous. In other cases, the jersey number represents sustained greatness at a particular position. Some players are superstitious about their jersey number. Whatever the case may be, jersey numbers are an important part of the fabric of professional football.Eleven players have worn jersey No. 38 in Raiders history including a bruising running back and several athletic defensive backs.

Estes Banks – RB – 1967

Selected in the 8th round of the 1967 AFL/NFL Draft, Banks played in 9 games and carried the ball 10 times for 26 yards. He went on to play one season for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Ted Koy – TE – 1970

Drafted in the 2nd round of the 1970 NFL Draft, Koy played in 2 games for the Raiders in 1970 before going on to play for the Buffalo Bills for four seasons.

Rufus Bess – DB – 1979

Bess played in 16 games for the Raiders in 1979 and recorded 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery. He went on to play two seasons for Buffalo and six for Minnesota.

Chester Willis – RB – 1981-84

Selected in the 11th round of the1981 NFL Draft out of Auburn, Willis played in 52 games for the Raiders. He carried the ball 32 times for 73 yards and 1 TD and caught 1 pass for 24 yards. He also returned 17 kickoffs for 333 yards.

Rod Hill – DB – 1987

After playing for Dallas, Buffalo and Detroit from 1982-86, Hill played in 4 games with 3 starts for the Raiders in 1987.

Nick Bell – RB – 1991-93

Selected in the 2nd round of the 1991 NFL Draft out of Iowa, Bell played in 35 games with 5 starts. He gained 853 yards on 226 carries with 7 TDs and caught 21 passes for 213 yards. He also returned 1 kickoff for 16 yards.

Marquis Walker – DB – 1998-99

Walker played in 32 games with 7 starts and grabbed 3 interceptions for 38 yards, forced 2 fumbles and recovered 1.

Clarence Love – DB – 2002-03

After spending time with Philadelphia and Baltimore, Love played in 24 games with 3 starts and recorded 1 pass defensed.

Tyrone Poole – CB – 2006

Poole joined the Raiders after three seasons with Carolina, three seasons with Indianapolis, and three seasons with New England. He played in 12 games with 2 starts and recorded 1 sack and 1 interception.

Adminchinobi Echemandu – RB – 2007

Echemandu played for the Raiders from 2006-07. He wore No. 20 in 2006 and 38 in 2007. He played in 6 games with the Raiders but did not record any statistics. He also spent time with Cleveland, Minnesota and Houston.

Cory Nelms – DB – 2012

After spending time with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011, Nelms saw action in one game for the Raiders in 2012.

No way we or anyone else would get 4 new WR and especially these ones lol. I want to see more of Rod Streater, Brice Butler and Andre Holmes. We know what we have with Moore and Ford, they both are just average and wouldn't really care if they re-signed or left TBH. They can stick around for depth just not as starters. But we do for sure need to add a couple more.

Herman Urenda – WR/DB – 1963

A three-sport athlete at Pacific, Urenda played in two games for the Raiders during the 1963 season.

Pervis Atkins – WR – 1965-66

Atkins played in 19 games and carried the ball 14 times for 10 yards and caught 1 pass for 6 yards. He also returned 1 punt for 13 yards and 29 kickoffs for 608 yards.

Marv Hubbard – RB – 1969

The Raiders selected Hubbard in the 11th round of the 1968 NFL Draft. He wore No. 39 for one season before switching to No. 44. In No. 39, Hubbard gained 119 yards on 21 carries and caught 2 passes for 30 yards. More on Hubbard when we get to No. 44.

Willie Hall – LB – 1975-78

Hall joined the Raiders after two seasons with the Saints. He played in 46 games with 39 starts and grabbed 5 interceptions for 35 yards and recorded 2 fumble recoveries and returned 1 for a touchdown. He was a member of the Raiders Super Bowl XI championship team.

Steve Strachan – RB – 1985-89

Selected in the 11th round of the 1985 NFL Draft out of Boston College, Strachan played in 63 games (primarily on special teams) with 4 starts and gained 174 yards on 52 carries and caught 7 passes for 61 yards and 1 TD

Kevin Smith – TE – 1992-93

Smith wore No. 29 from 1992-94 before switching to No. 83 in 1994. In all, he played in 14 games with 1 start and returned 2 kickoffs for 15 yards, caught 1 pass for 8 yards and carried the ball once for 2 yards.

Bruce Pickens – DB – 1995

Pickens spent the last season of his NFL career with the Raiders. He played in 16 games with 1 start and recovered 1 fumble.

Brandon Jennings – DB – 2000-02

An undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, Jennings played in 20 games for the Raiders.

i saw that earlier. i like it!! solid ST player and can back up cb/rb for a last resort. also a pretty cheap deal. think it said hes at 4 years for a total of 5m. not bad imo.

John Roderick – WR – 1968

After two years with Miami, Roderick played in 11 games with the Raiders in 1968 and recorded 2fumble recoveries.

Alvin Wyatt – DB – 1970

Selected in the 6th round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Raiders, Wyatt played in 11 games and returned 25 punts for 231 yards and a touchdown and returned 13 kickoffs for 286 yards. He went on to play for Buffalo and Houston.

Phil Villapiano – LB – 1971-79

Selected by the Raiders in the 2nd round of the 1971 NFL Draft, Villapiano played in 118 games with 117 starts. He recorded 11 interceptions for 160 yards and 1 TD and recovered 17 fumbles. He was a key member of several playoff teams including the Raiders Super Bowl XI championship team. He made the game-sealing interception in the Sea of Hands game against Miami in the 1974 playoffs.

Fulton Walker – DB – 1985-86

Walker (pictured) joined the Raiders during the 1985 season after playing for Miami from 1981-85. He played in 27 games and returned 11 punts for 1,132 yards and 1 TD, and returned 44 kickoffs for 835 yards.

Napoleon McCallum – 1986, 1990-94

The Raiders selected McCallum in the 4th round of the 1986 NFL Draft out of the United States Naval Academy. He wore Nos. 34 (1986) and 41 (1990-94) in two stints with the Raiders. In all, he played in 74 games with 6 starts and gained 790 yards on 223 carries with 6 TDs. He caught 17 passes for 121 yards. His career was cut short by a devastating injury.Ron Foster – DB – 1987

Foster appeared in three games with two starts and returned one kickoff for 12 yards.

David Greenwood – DB – 1988

After playing a year each for Tampa Bay and Green Bay, Greenwood appeared in 2 games for the Raiders in 1988.

Bobby Joe Edmunds – WR – 1989

Edmunds joined the Raiders after three years with Seattle and played in seven games in 1989. He returned 16 punts for 168 yards and 14 kickoffs for 271 yards. He went on to play one year with Tampa Bay.

Louis Riddick – DB – 1998

Riddick played for the Falcons and Browns before joining the Raiders. He played in 15 games with 3 starts and recovered one fumble. He is currently an analyst for ESPN.

Eric “Crazy” Johnson – DB/LB – 2000-03

Johnson played in 55 games with 2 starts and recorded 1 interception. The special teams ace returned a punt blocked by LB Tim Johnson for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXVII.

Manase Tonga – FB – 2011

Tonga played in 11 games with 3 starts and caught 3 passes for 18 yards and carried the ball once for 12 yard

Bo Roberson – WR – 1962-65

One of the first true speedsters to wear a Raiders uniform, Roberson won the silver medal in the long jump at the 1960 Olympics. After a year with the Chargers, Roberson played in 48 games for Oakland. He caught 113 passes for 1,834 yards and 7 touchdowns. Roberson also carried the ball 110 times for 309 yards and 3 TDs, returned 3 punts for 54 yards and returned 113 kickoffs for 2,791 yards and a touchdown. He is the second-leading kickoff returner in team history. Roberson was acquired by Buffalo during the 1965 season and finished his AFL career with a season with Miami.

Pete Banaszak – FB – 1966-78

Selected in the 5th round of the 1966 AFL Draft, Banaszak played in 173 games with 31 starts. He gained 3,772 yards on 964 carries with 47 TDs. He also caught 121 passes for 1,022 yards and 5 scores. He even returned 23 kickoffs for 351 yards. Banaszak was a key member of the Raiders Super Bowl XI championship team and was a central figure in the play that became known as the Holy Roller. He is the 6th leading rusher in team history.

Rick Berns – RB – 1982-83

Berns joined the Raiders after two years with Tampa Bay. He played in 18 games and gained 22 yards on 6 carries. He was a member of the Raiders Super Bowl XVIII championship team.

Zeph Lee – DB/RB – 1987-89

The Raiders acquired Lee during the 1987 season. In all, he played in 23 games with 7 starts, and intercepted 1 pass for 20 yards.

Marcus Wilson – RB – 1991

Selected in the 6th round of the 1991 NFL Draft out of Virginia, Wilson played in 1 game and gained 21 yards on 6 carries. He went on to play four seasons in Green Bay.

Cary Brabham – DB – 1994

Brabham saw action in 7 games for the Raiders in 1994, his only season in the NFL. Jon Ritchie – FB – 1998-02

The Raiders selected Ritchie in the 3rd round of the 1998 NFL Draft out of Stanford. He played in 75 games with 48 starts and caught 129 passes for 1,026 yards and 4 TDs, and gained 35 yards on 14 carries. He was a key member of the Raiders squad that won three straight AFC West titles, appeared in two AFC Championship games and played in Super Bowl XXXVII. He finished his career with two years with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jarrod Cooper – S – 2004-07

Known for his skills as a gunner on special teams, Cooper played in 47 games with the Raiders with 10 starts. He recorded 1.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries.

Louis Rankin – RB – 2009

Rankin was on the Raiders roster in 2009 and 2011. He wore No. 40 in 2009 and appeared in 2 games and returned 6 kickoffs for 108 yards. He also spent time with Seattle.
