I hope that the Pat's D is able to scheme more complex than man to man... its like that's all they are able to do so that's why its been done. I love Revis and everything he has done. That busted coverage last week really hurt us, but that isn't a reason to undermine him. He is still playing exceptionally well and at a top tier in the league. Browner, on the other hand, still worries me. I love his size and what it can create for match ups. I think that it is mostly the penalties he draws that bothers me, his play is still reliable. I have noticed, though, he is always flagged often at the beginning of games, and after that, he is fine. Now if this is because of his adjustment or the refs realizing that he is massive and it makes minimal contact look worse than it really is, I have no idea. My little rant on the new corners.
McCourty is awesome, he's evolved so much in the past few years. Hightower has been getting good experience these last two years with Mayo being injured. At least I can try to take some positives out of it lol. Casillas, to me at least, was a no-namer, but he has been doing his job. I guess that's why he's on the team, right?
Taking injuries into account, I still believe the lack of pass rush is unacceptable. It is critical to have a pass rush in the post season, given the quarterbacks will typically pick you apart, much like what happened last week, with so much time. We need some fast, young bodies in there. The Run D is a completely different story, though a bit shaky if bounced to the outside. At least we have a secondary that can make tackles.
As much as the defensive issues scare me, I have piece of mind knowing that Bill Belichick is at work. Don't really need to say much about him.
One thing I have noticed is that Ninkovich might be better utilized at LB now, given the current depth chart. Although, the D line is extremely shallow as well. I like what he is able to do playing a spy. I also think that blitzing more often could accommodate pass rush problems, although it is a gamble.
On offense, there are just so many different ways to attack. I'll be excited to see how we utilize our RBs against San Diego. I would think Vereen will have a big game catching short passes and Blount will pound it. The way he was running last week looked extremely motivated. I really think that he wants to win, and work for it, which could be why he acted like a baby and stormed off in Pittsburgh. I'll take it, though. I was at the Pats-Colts divisional last year and witnessed him rip them a new asshole first hand, it was quite messy. and wet.
This overly expressive, blatantly obvious, homer ridden write up brought to you by sativa.
a healthy chandler jones back will certainly help the pass rush, I hope they run the ball more than they did vs GB when they play the chargers this sunday, sometimes I think Josh McDaniels abandons the run wayyyy to early, it was as if he thought they were behind (score-wise) more than they actually were... i'd like to see Blount & Jonas get more carries
