McFadden surprised a lot of people last year and he wasn't even the starter early on. Alfred Morris should be the day one starter with Darren complimenting him. Between the two, Dallas would have been fine at RB.

zeke was an investment in the future, he's a great all around football player who can make an immediate impact on special teams, be a solid second or third string running back early on, push the guys ahead of him to perform better, and may even take over lead back duties before the end of the year.

honestly a pretty solid pick, and i hate the cowboys and ohio state.

I don't hate the player at all I just think at #4 and based on what Dallas already had at rb, it is kinda a waste. I get what you're saying it just sucks to have to sit players. (Eagles last year)

They did not draft him #4 to be a 2nd or 3rd stringer lol, 100% chance he gets 20+ carries from day 1.

Yeah he might have to "earn" it in training camp but he's the guy.

If we snag Connor Cook with our first pick tomorrow then this draft will be win.

Pretty amazing he is still on the board.

He's such a D-bag though.

Alfred Morris -- I have zero hard feelings for this guy. He was the heart and soul of the redskins offense his first couple years. He's a blood and guts type player... That being said... He was not very good without a running threat qb. Last year his numbers were awful and if you watched the game he was pretty bad. When he first came in the league he was slow, but extremely quick on his cuts, always found the hole, and usually got extra yards after contact. Last year, he was slow on his cuts too and could never get going. The redskins decided they were going to part ways with him so I have no hard feelings on him signing with Dallas. I am happy for him and wish him the best. I think he could be somewhat productive with that Dallas offense at this point in his career, but you're not going for average. You're going for the super bowl... And a guy like Elliot is special. Behind that line, I would expect a very good year and I truly believe this guy can be an all time great.

Morris isn't great in pass protection nor is he much of a receiver.

McFadden might be the most overrated player. He was in the top 10 or whatever for rushing yards because he was one of the few backs that was healthy last year. I don't even think he averaged 4 a carry. He's not good. He's also pretty prone to injuries. Going into a season with an old, injury prone McFadden and a one dimensional runner who also appears to be past his prime is a mistake when you have a back you can grab that could be the next AP

just my thoughts. Also, tldr

I assumed he would do fairly well(mcfadden) behind that line from the time they picked him up and he indeed did, but between him and dunbar, the looming threat of injuries was too great to just risk testing one more season, now they have a potential stud RB in zeke, who I assume will seize the top spot at some point and probably earlier than we think. I love Mcfadden, but he wasn't the ideal fit for the offense, and this pick allows dallas to always have somebody at the RB spot who is a credible running threat, without having to ride one horse and hope for full health all season.

I don't disagree with you that the cowboys would have been 'fine' with just Mcfadden and Morris, but the team strategy requires a top-level running game to grind the clock and improve the passing game's effectiveness. This rings especially true since the brunt of the team's passing come from long-winded type routes, Dez fades or posts, deep Witten hooks and ins, and Beasleys double move flat routes.
