Packers exec Eliot Wolf has pulled out of the Niners GM search, source said. Could eventually be Ted Thompson's successor.

Guy is going to sit back and watch one more draft + off-season before taking the reigns

He's under contract through the end of the 2018 season, so unless Wolf starts pushing and seriously considers going elsewhere it's probably two more.

I hope so. Been hearing the Wolf pup rumors for a bit now, but I'd prefer TT leaving on his own terms or finding another role within the organization

A lot of agreement on Reddit that he'll take on a top scouting position with an advisory role since he talks about how he enjoys that so much. They gave Wolf a new deal though, so it was probably a raise to keep him happy for the next couple years until Ted is ready to step down.
