Browns gave Watson the EXACT type of contract he wanted, expecting a suspension. They helped this scumbag limit his financial loss with how his contract is structured.

His base salary in 2022? $1M. That's it.

The four years after that? $46M+

Because of this, his suspension being in 2022 (as expected) he will only lose out on like $600K. Plus the $5M the NFL added on (probably because they saw how little he was losing because of the bogus contract arrangement).

Also, by suspending Deshaun Watson fewer than 12 games, his contract will not toll an additional year, allowing him to receive his $46M salary next year, rather than the $1M he would've earned in 2023 with a longer suspension.
