The game outcome was decided by a guy not saying "I am eligible" to the ref. Nothing would of changed with coverage because he was one of if not the last guy reporting. It's a technicality. To me, to have games be decided by these types of things is kind of a let down.

It could have possibly changed actually. He lined up uncovered indicating he was an ineligible receiver so Dallas has zero reason to cover him.

There is a reason they report eligibility.

Decker himself reported eligible, not the other olineman (the one who caught the pass) I forget his name

Or wait I have it backwards. Decker didn't report. Someone else did

This stuff is pretty cut and dry. They usually announce it on the ref mic who reported eligible for everyone to hear

Well yeah but if the refs don't announce who is at fault? The ref lol. I mean this is the assumption that #70 (Skipper) and #68 (Decker) who BOTH run up to the ref weren't doing it for NO reason

Ok so let's say the ref got it wrong and Decker did actually report as eligible even though the ref announced skipper as eligible.

BUT, Decker lined up UNCOVERED, so that's is an illegal formation by the offense. An eligible lineman has to be covered to be an eligible receiver. So it was either an illegal formation OR illegal touching.

Both have the same result
