Alt coins have never and may never decouple from Bitcoin, they move up or down with it consistently. Comparing Bitcoin to Ask jeeves is nonsense because we can see that institutionally there is a clear precedence set for Bitcoin dominance over any other cryptocurrency. Additionally infrastructure is laid with Bitcoin primarily in mind, evidenced by various international regulations and the network for “Bitcoin ATMs”
