DJ Chark, Marvin Jones and Shenault wasn't a bad receiving corps. Obviously DJ getting hurt after a few weeks hurt y'all big time but idk.. throwing WR1 $$ at Kirk and signing Zay Jones to a 3/30 and Evan Engram to 1/9 hardly seems like a better approach lol.
I think it woulda made more sense to target WR in the draft rather than in FA but I'm sure you guys will still draft a couple like you said.
DJ got hurt on the 2nd play in week 4, he was basically gone all season. Shenault regressed massively and couldn't catch anything. He dropped so many passes this year. It was really bad, but I think that had a lot to do with the trash WR coach Urban brought in and of course the trash environment in the building as a whole. Place was toxic because of Urban.
Chark is a Free Agent and is going else where.
Our only TEs are Dan Arnold who's coming off an injury and Chris Manhertz who's mainly just a blocking TE. They need talent and speed at the TE position and that's what Engram brings. It's a 1 year deal low risk, possible high reward contract. Nothing wrong with it.
Nobody really understands the Jones deal 3yr/$24m, but hes got some speed and this Offense lacked speed. He'll play on Special Teams as well.
I don't think they're done at WR or TE. Pick #33 is likely in play for a WR. We got multiple 5th/6th/7th round picks that we could possibly swing with the #33 pick to jump back into the 1st round for one. Draft another TE as well.
We have 4 draft picks in the top 70 and 12 total picks this year. You can't fix it all in one off season.
