Randy,
I'll say my annual 'you should be writing for someone doing these' post.

My questions with barely knowing anything about these guys are:

1. Do you really think quarterbacks fall that far? I just don't see that happening.

2. Can you tell me more about jabrill peppers actual position? It sounds like he's solid at everything but not really good at anything. However I heard another analyst say peppers in a mock today on the radio to the redskins and described him as a better more athletic version of cravens... which id be all in for... however my concerns are we just signed swearinger and Zach brown so I don't see a pressing need / why we'd take a shot on what seems to be a risky prospect.

3. Honestly, is McCaffrey that good? I feel like a lot of his popularity is because he is white (think Peyton hillis)

4. I didn't see Nixon (mixon?) on your list. I may have missed him but what do you think his draft value would be at if he had a clean history with no red flags?

5. ThoughTs on the Richard Sherman trade talk?

You the man dude

Honestly, I'm doubting the Soloman Thomas / 49ers projection at this point. Everything I've read indicates that it's a poor scheme fit given their current personnel.

Don't be shocked if the 49ers go Jamal Adams or even a CB

PS if we take Kizer with our #1 while we are in all out win now mode, that would signify that we concede the AFC to the patriots. Planning for the future is smart, but with such a risky gamble on a guy like Kizer, idk.

@The Niners part, I agree that Thomas likely won't be the pick but he should be. Von wasn't a good scheme fit for the Broncos but he was the BPA. If Garrett is off the board, Thomas is the BPA (arguments made for Fournette and Allen, smaller arguments made for Adams and Hooker). I fully expect the Niners to be trying their best to trade down and just get as many picks as they can. They have so many holes right now and with a new regime in place, they'll likely value picks above all else. Buuuuuut until York dies, I can't see success coming back anytime soon.

@The Steelers part, I don't really think they'll go QB unless someone blows them away but I saw them linked to Kizer the past few weeks and I wasn't sure who to put to them there so said fuck it let's see. Kinda sucked because I wanted Kizer for the Cards in the second haha. If this draft played out like this and the Steelers had the options they had available, I'd put my money on Watt or Njoku.

Solid player who shouldn't be available that late. He's probably not a great fit for a 4-3 team buuuut talent is difficult to pass on.

1) Absolutely not. I do this every year because the talent at QB is never close to where they are drafted. Obviously the position importance is far higher than any other position but I try to hope teams look past that and draft smart, taking talent. It'll never happen and there will likely be at least 2 QBs taken in the top 10 but you never know.

2) Take this info..

24. Oakland Raiders (12-4) - Obi Melifonwu, SS/LB, Connecticut
Deone Bucannon’s combine: 6’1’’, 211lbs, 4.49 40, 19 bench, 36.5’’ vert, 125’’ broad and he’s worked out pretty well for the Cardinals at LB. Obi’s combine: 6’4’’, 224lbs, 4.40 40, 17 bench, 44’’ vert, 141’’ broad……..think he might be able to work out well for the Raiders who have a desperate need for a LB?

Add in Pepper's numbers: 5'11''. 213lbs, 4.46 40, 19 bench, 35.5'' vert, 128'' broad. So he's a bit smaller than both guys (most will be tiny in comparison to Obi anyway, dude is a freak) but Peppers is basically a hard hitter with decent ball skills, good instincts, solid tackler and is very athletic. I personally like him to a team who intends to use him as a LB so long as you have other LBs to surround him with that'll feed off each other (unlike we have had next to Deone). He can play safety too in the way Kam does. Don't count on him being a ball hawk but fuck me if he's coming at you full speed lol.

3) McCaffrey is my #1 RB in this class. Yeah you read that right I like him more than Fournette and Cook.

4) Clean history, in the conversation with Fournette, Cook, McCaffrey. Teams aren't going to want to touch him. Someone will, but not until day 3. Maybe he'll sneak in late day 2 but I wouldn't count on anything sooner than that. Maybe he's interviewing great and showing he's different but it won't matter much. Look at Tyreek Hill, probably should have been an early day 2 selection, talented as shit, but fell to round 5, the end of round 5 at that and his domestic abuse wasn't nearly as talked about as Mixon's (yeah I know Mixon was assault, not domestic violence bee tee dubs). I'll still stand here and say Mixon is getting more heat than he should. If I remember correctly him and the chick were arguing, she left and he followed and that's where the video kicks in. Obviously he never should have followed but she was coming at him and he handled it. Wrongly, but equal rights, that shit yada yada blah blah. Open had, push her away, just hold her, million other options than doing your best Tyson impression but she was the one who lashed out physically first (again iirc, haven't seen the video in awhile).

5) I think the Hawks are tired of Sherman and his mouth, realize the talent in this draft at corner and want to capitalize on the situation, gain an extra mid round pick, draft a young corner or two, and save a metric fuck ton of money. I also think that now Sherman's ego is bruised because he thought he was untouchable so he's mouthing off saying he's all for a trade. I also also think that this is partially because of Marshawn. We didn't hear any Sherman trade rumors until the Marshawn to the Raiders shit happened. Seahawks can't afford to keep Marshawn so they'd be forced to let him go and all that. Move Sherman, ton of cap space, can keep Marshawn and get something for him. So I think Seattle is looking at it like this...

Keep Sherman:
Lots of money
Distraction
Lose Marshawn for nothing

Move Sherman:
Extra 1st and 3rd/4th (using 1 of their now 2x first to draft a young CB in a loaded draft)
Save money
Control Marshawn and trade him for a 2ndish

Moving Sherman seems like the better deal imo.

Oakland does need sum LB. Really hurting in terms of LB coverage these past several seasons, and it feels like we generate absolutely dicks for pressure outside of the 4th quarter and the 2 minute warning in the 2nd.

1. Yeah I imagine someone is gonna reach on a qb like every year.
2. Okay you're selling me well there.
3. Interesting.
4. See I've heard he is on the same level as fournette - not sure where. I just can't imagine that talent going day3. All it takes is one team to say f it and pick him. I think he's an early day 2 pick. As long as his interviews and stuff went wellish and by that I mean he doesn't give the perception he will be in trouble with the law again. Last year, tyreek hills case only helps him. Every team is wishing they had taken the chance on hill now and the public loved him even with his history. I see the teams basically saying 'if he helps us win, we can overlook this'
5. Seems like not a huge asking price for Sherman. What're teams that seem like good fits / have cap room? My first thought is the cowboys. Dak on a rookie contract and romo/free retiring id imagine they have some cap but I don't really know. They lost a couple corners in free agency this year too.

A second for marshawn isn't happening... is it? A guy who didn't play last year and was hurt most of the year before. Older guy... and from what it sounds a good rb class. Seems more like a 5th or 6th pick to me but I dont seem to ever get the values on draft picks right.

Marshawn could probably fetch a 4th.

Asking price for Sherman is massive, especially considering the CB strength of this draft class. Why trade a first+ for a guy at 29 with attitude questions and a big paycheck when you can roll the dice on a promising younger guy with no questions about behavior, more years to play, and a lower cap hit? If this were a draft with fewer CBs who look good, you'd have a stronger case.

That being said, I also see the Cowboys as a good destination for Sherman, but I don't know if their cap situation can make it work.

I don't follow other teams draft needs but I know this is probably what the worst offensive line draft class in 5+ years?

I don't think the Seahawks touch one until the 3rd round.

Seahawks need DB/CB, D line, and WR depth before touching anything else honestly
