It wasn't late and by the rules, Suggs is allowed to hit him on a read option play even if he doesn't have the ball (although Sam made no effort to look like he was going to run or act like he had the ball)

I just didn't like how he went for the knees. He could have tackled him above the waist and I wouldn't give a shit about it.

That's the thing, the rule is in place for when the read option is used to confuse a defense and fake them out. When a defender thinks the QB actually has the ball in his hands because the QB might be faking it, a defender can tackle him.

However, in this situation that was not the case. Bradford OBVIOUSLY did not have the ball in his hands and it was so damn late and targeted at the knees it was obvious what was happening....everyone could see it.

Yeah it wasn't late at all. Most Eagles fans are freaking out because they are extra cautious about Bradford's knee and the way Suggs went straight for the knee in a preseason game.

Right, okay.

Wasn't dirty at all by Suggs, right. I've heard it all now.

Thank you, but we are well aware of the rules that have been in place for a while now.

So wait, that gives Suggs the right to hit a QB who does NOT have the football in his hands, but also hitting him LATE and also at the knees?

It was 100% a cheap shot, and everyone (including Suggs) knows it. Dirty player is dirty, nothing really surprising.

edit: if Suggs actually believed Bradford had the ball in his hands, THEN that gives him the right to him him. That's what the rule is designed for. However, we all know damn well it's difficult to believe he actually thought he had the ball in his hands. Actually, we know DAMN WELL he knew it wasn't in his hands. He just went for the knees to try and be cheap, and try to target the surgically repaired knees. Simple as that. This isn't the first, or last, cheap shot that Suggs has taken on players.

he's 1 yard away and running full speed at your QB but does he have the ball? I DON'T FUCKING KNOW and he doesn't know! Tackle him because YOU ARE SUPPOSE to. "He is still treated as a runner until he is clearly out of the play," Blandino said. "The quarterback makes the pitch, he's still a runner, he can be hit like a runner until he's clearly out of the play."

If you want to make a case for the targeted area he hit okay but to say this was a late hit is just straight homerism

He just wanted to give Bradford a head start on his season ending injury...nbd
