The Panthers have to cover a 6.5 point spread, so yes, they must win by 7 or more for you to win a bet of Panthers -6.5

Also the game is on Jan. 3rd, not the 2nd ;)

They would have to win by 7 for you to win your bet.
If they win by less than 7 you lose your bet.
