Fitzpatrick isn't a permanent fix... Case is just a prospect but I don't ever see him becoming a starting QB.
Is Jones a late first round player? Always thought he was a 3rd rounder or so.
Case Keenum started eight games last season and kind of played like a poor man's Alex Smith. While he wasn't great once defenses adjusted to him he still played well enough to win at least five or six of those games, but it was either a lack of running game or unreliable defense that led to his 0-8 record as a starter.
Not having a healthy Arian Foster and Brian Cushing probably hurt the Texans more during a six-week stretch when they lost every game by one score. Most of them came down to the final few plays of the game. Up until the 25-3 loss at Indianapolis when Case Keenum threw two interceptions and fumbled once, he was doing a pretty good job limiting the turnovers. At one point he had a respectable 8 TD and 1 INT ratio through four starts.
Case Keenum can definitely play in the pros. I hope Bill O'Brien can still teach him a lot. I almost want to blame Gary Kubiak for the vanilla playcalling. It was way too predictable and two or three decades old. Mike Shanahan ran the same offense with the Washington Redskins and they fired him also.
Between Ryan Fitzpatrick and Case Keenum we have two smart and hard-working quarterbacks.
I'm confident any quarterback they draft will come in right away and learn a lot from Bill O'Brien.
