Gilbert's all around game might be better but from what I've read Dennard has a better chance of being a complete shut down corner. Gilbert bites on double moves, Dennard doesn't fall for them
I also heard that dennards completion % allowed was lower than Gilbert's across all the entire field but I'm pretty sure msu's defense had to something to do with that

Yeah, that's where I'd be worried. MSU had a beastly defense front that forced some hurried throws. Dennard, although I like him a lot, doesn't seem like the kind of athlete that Gilbert is. Dennard could be the next Richard Sherman though, wouldn't surprise me.
I also wouldn't question Det. making the hometown pick either.
