Gave a commencement speech at a catholic college. Made a comment about college degrees being valuable but for some women, they may be called to motherhood and being a homemaker.

He said most women not some, and that was like 10% of the speech lol

I will say my wife has a far better resume and career history than myself, but has decided to leave her career to become a stay at home mom. Best decision we’ve ever made.

Now we’re looking to homeschool.

out of curiosity, what made you guys decide she should stay home vs you?

no slamming, ive always been one to think that the "bread winner"/ whoever happens to make more, should be the one that goes to work while the other stays home to take care of the kids.

There were quite a few. The decision for us was really between her working and hiring a nanny or her staying at home. It was never really a consideration for me. Below is a spitfire list of points:


She was stressed at work with her high profile position. She saw fruit in staying at home and caring for our children. Made breast feeding a lot easier. She has a few girlfriends who were doing it at that specific time (network). I’m a more social person, and didn’t think I would like it. Her line of work, accounting & CPA, is a lot easier to jump back in when the time comes (jokes out on this one now). My income, although it was nearly half of hers, was still enough to support our family as long as we budget.

That was 4 years ago. Now we’ve got 3 kids and I wish I could spend as much time with them as she gets to. No regerts
