Multiple different ways they could go at 24 so it's hard to say. Can't really say I have a preference who they pick, but Edge/DL, CB, and TE should all be in play. Could make an argument for OG/OT as well, but I think they should draft a Swing OT to develop a little later in the draft.

Darnell Washington at TE would be very tempting if he's still on the board. He'd instantly be a 3rd OT out there. He's basically a far more athletic Marcedes Lewis. Him and Engram would go well together.

Joey Porter Jr. would be nice to get if he's still on the board as well. He'd help sure up our Secondary and give us a really solid trio at CB in Tyson Campbell, Darious Williams and Porter. It'd also give them the option of using the out clause in Williams' contract after this coming season, which would save us $10m in cap. Of course that'd mean they'd have to find a new NB next year. Kelee Ringo is interesting as well. He's strictly an outside CB, but there's a lot of physical ability there to work with. He's still only 20 years old.

Hard to say which Edge/DL guys might fall, but pass rush is one of our biggest needs. There's very little depth at OLB behind Josh Allen and Travon Walker. We have some solid iDL guys, but none of them can really get after the QB. Strong against the run, but definitely need some more iDL pass rush.

I think a trade down could be good as well. Could always use more picks.

They have to come away from this draft with at least one Edge/DL, CB and TE. It's deep at those positions in this draft and all 3 of them are at the top of the needs list.

If we aren't picking up a QB, I'm thinking that we are going to trade down and get a decent CB or DE.

Either JSN, Addison, or Flowers at WR

Any of the top 3 CBs if they somehow fall (Gonzales, Porter Jr, Witherspoon)

I'd like to see Lions trade up to grab Anderson or trade down if they can't. If they take Jalen Carter, I won't be disappointed because I trust the org to have interviewed him/feel good about him.

you mean trading up to grab richardson and then grabbing bijan with their later pick? I think if Lions trade up it would be for Anderson. Robinson would be a weird pick because that puts their freshly signed FA running back 3rd on the depth chart(I'm assuming Swift would be RB2 in that situation)

We need to end up with an IDL for sure, ideally one of Carter, Kancey, Bresee, or Mazi Smith, idrc where they draft them as long as it's not a huge reach.

Other than that, I'm interested in Kincaid, Mayer, or Washington at TE, maybe Nolan Smith or Myles Murphy at edge. I'd be happy with Deonte Banks later in the first.

It'd be great to pick up some OL depth too, I like Torrence, Bergeron, Avila, Zavala, maybe Mauch at the right value.

I want Jack Campbell in the 2nd, whatever we gotta do to acquire him I'm for it.


If we leave this draft with immediate upgrades to IDL, TE, LB and some OL depth I think we hit a homerun. We have 5 picks in the first 81 so we should have the capital to do that.


i see a lot of people wanting us to take hendon hooker, which i wouldn't mind, but i think he's gonna go in the top 40 and i don't want to take him in that range.

Assuming we (Lions) dont make a trade and are picking at #6 and #18... Jalen Carter, Gonzalez, or Witherspoon would be sick at #6 and then maybe Mayer or Bijan if either are available with our other 1st rounder.
