I havent done much research into it, why is it $200 for the pro version when you could get a fire stick or roku for like $50
Cuz those shit are trash and not worth 50, whereas the shield pro is worth 300.
I had the firestick 4k stick for 34cad on bf deal last year, despite being cheap, I still consider it a waste of money. I got it because my tv lacks app options and firestick allows sideloading. However, not everything can be sideloaded and the interface is a lot slower than the shield since they have a lot weaker CPU. Kodi isn't as smooth on it, buffering problems, loading problems, and not everything can be sideloaded on firestick and make it work.
Shield has Chromecast and plex server built in. Like my lg tv, while the panel is great, the smart tv aspect is trash and very limited. Shield bypasses this problem. Also cheaper 4k tv's or even hd tv's benefit greatly benefit from shield's upscaling ai tech that improves your display, and you can see the difference live side by side. They also offer Nvidia gaming for console gamers and pc gamers that like to use their tv instead of monitors, but I rarely use that feature other than jack box games.
Firestick/Roku are mostly for older tv's that don't have smartTV option to use popular apps like Netflix. Roku in Canada is also very limited compared to murica.
Basically shield let's you do everything with no limits, and it's the best droid box out there with no competition. Big companies like Amazon aren't even confident to create a product to rival the shield pro, and they prefer to just sell firetv box or sticks for a lot cheaper.
