Congrats Makar!!!

You know Hughes is fucking elite when the votes even tell you he's 1337 literally.

I would have voted for Hughes because he had more weight on his shoulders.

Makar was on a deeper team. Of course they are both exceptional but I would give the tiebreaker to Hughes because Vancouver's success revolved far more around him than Colorado did on Makar.

Honestly I can't be upset about it. Makar is a deserving winner. Would have voted on Hughes for the above reasons though.

yee if the two swapped teams, i think hughes woulda been much more scarier than he is currently. A year younger, playing with Graves and MacK/Rant/Landy. Let's not go there though, I don't want to live in that universe hehuehue

Knew it would be a toss up. I don’t know how heavily they weigh certain factors. There is no vancouver and playoffs without Quinn turning around their power play. Makar I feel was just a cog in the Colorado mackinnon machine. Obviously I have bias of watching Hughes every night and only catching makar highlights.

expected Makar to win, but Hughes really deserved it. without hyperbole, he's already the best offensive D-man the Canucks ever had. his presence on the ice completely transforms the team. genuinely reminds me of prime Karlsson.

Vancouver and Colorado got eliminated on the same night, tossing that whole one team is more stacked than the other theory out the window imo

The way Colorado was eliminated was a rather different scenario imo.

Colorado had an injured starter and then a string of backups couldn't put together a decent game.

If Colorado had a semi competent goaltender they would be in the finals right now imo.

Can not say the same for the Canucks. They got an absolute god tier performance in net and still lost to Vegas.

I would like it to be true but I am realistic. Colorado is up at least another tier compared to Vancouver.
