"The Winnipeg Jets and Dustin Byfuglien are working toward a mutual contract termination over the next several days, sources told TSN's Frank Seravalli.

It would end his suspension and nullify the grievance the defenseman filed in November. The transaction would also make Byfuglien an unrestricted free agent.

More to come."

I mean, is anyone going to even want him after all the b.s. he caused? I feel like he has destroyed his name in the NHL. What is your guys take and thoughts?

Continued:

"The gargantuan blue-liner has missed the entire 2019-20 season after undergoing ankle surgery in October. The Jets suspended him in September after he failed to report to training camp, and the NHLPA filed a grievance on his behalf in November.

Byfuglien, 34, hasn't resumed skating since the procedure. His camp has argued the injury was a hockey-related ailment sustained during the 2018-19 season and that it never fully healed, but the team deemed him healthy after he passed his end-of-season physical in April."

Further continued:

"The veteran rearguard's ban was procedural in nature and he hasn't been paid since being suspended. Byfuglien's contract originally carried a $7.6-million cap hit for both this season and the next campaign, along with salaries of $8 million in 2019-20 and $6 million in 2020-21.

Terminating the deal would bring closure to the dispute while providing the Jets with cap flexibility ahead of the Feb. 24 trade deadline."

lol yah, i'd want the canucks to sign him as long as he can play still.
Canucks Dmen isn't AHL tier anymore, but it's still meh.
would be hilarious to see giants in the backend, myers, buff, tryamkin hahahaha

I prefer the Canucks use the 8 skater 1 goalie format than 7 fwd/3d/1g format for the seattle draft protection.

If he's physically fit enough to play. If kovalchuk is still in the league. Buff would get a second chance until he proved otherwise. Idk if the guy has it in him to want to keep playing.

Obligatory Byfuglien highlights video :

I don't know if there will ever be another player like Big Buff in the NHL. A guy his size should not be able to be so quick and agile on his skate, it's really something else.

This is what I basically got from the entire ordeal. If he had the heart to play, he would have been playing as soon as he possibly could. Even if he doesn't like the club, he signed the fucking contract.

He has a habit of putting on the pounds during the off season.

Did you see the photos of him at a Hawk players wedding during the summer? I forget which one but it looked like he was 300 pounds.

I would imagine he is in pretty poor shape.
