Hes just a player who couldnt catch a break in his sophomore season. Got big but didnt find his ground on his skates and lost some of his agility that compensated for his lack of experience

Sophomore slump. It is real.

He had some injuries that set him back as well.

I would be concerned though at this point.

It is not like Montreal is deep with elite forwards taking ice time away from the kid.

Hell, a 36 year old nobody else wanted is the most dangerous player on the team. By no means in this an indictment to Kovy as he has been great since Montreal took a chance on him.

That being said that it is a bad sign for Montreal as a team and for the 3rd overall pick in the draft. Montreal would be an easier team to make a name for yourself on as a forward than most teams.

Kotkaniemi with his weight gain struggle to stay on his 2 feets and lost some of his agility

Of course. They draft well in the 2nd-3rd round but picking studs in the first wound is their weakness, some want timmins gone while i only want him to make the decisions in the 2nd round and after. I hate his "project selections" early in the 1st round and his obsession with american players.

He is the kind of person that when he draft in the 1st round its either a home run or a bust, never a in between.

Just because you can crack the line-up doesn’t mean you should. Good move by a team that’s been rushing 18yo kids to often. Hopefully he can find his game in the AHL and develop. Doesn’t mean anything in terms of his career potential that he’s not ready at 19/20.

??? He’s on a PGG, slightly over, pace, which is an improvement from last year. He’s not somp. slumping.

if it wasn't his sophomore year, he would be getting 9000 pts by now
but clearly the jinx is holding him back to ppg pace
