Say you can bet first period over/under

Etc in over and then separately in under.
If I was to bet the 1goal Over, would it push if it only had one scored all period or be considered a loss if it’s not 2 goals scored?
All I know if I bet say game total of over 6 and it ends in 6 I get my money back.
I don’t bet often so quite a nub here.
