For the last couple years I've been using the NHL.tv app through Xbox. It's a subscription service but has its draw backs. It's supper laggy sometimes, and since I live in Ontario, most of the Toronto games are blacked out for me.

Just wondering what other ways to watch NHL games are? I'm wanting to go another route this time because of the 2 issues above

Thanks!

In canada only redistribution not consumption of pirated materials is criminal so streaming would nt be but torrenting would.

But canada also created an “anti-corprate trolling” law to stop companys sending threatening letters to nobodys to get settlements.

I think the damages minimum was set at 10k but dont quote me on that

I was asking about this earlier.

NHL network is a great deal only if your favorite team is out of town.

You talk about getting blackouts so that would be a poor option for you.

Based on advice of others I am just going to get a cheap laptop and and a longer hdmi cable to I can just stream through my TV

streams quality is not bad right now. That may change in the future though as crackdowns happen.

I just hate the blackout bullshit. I wanted to pay for NHL network but because of that bullshit nobodies getting anything from me. Sportsnet app is also $21 a month. They can get fucked as well seeing they are the ones who caused the blackouts.

Sportsnet Now or TSN Direct are both options. I’m considering getting the TSN one since Sens are usually TSN

I think it’s like 20 per month or something, maybe less I can’t remember

sportsnet owns all of edm, van, calg games so there will be no blackouts assuming you reside in BC/AB.

SN NOW $19.99/month

Sportsnet NOW is what is known as an “in-market” NHL product. This is just a fancy way of saying it allows you to watch your local NHL team without blackouts.

Every team in the NHL has a number of games that are designated as regional (only available in a team’s broadcast territory) and national (available to anyone, anywhere across the country).

As Sportsnet is the sole broadcast partner of the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks, Sportsnet NOW carries all 82 games of each of those franchises, depending on where you live. Sportsnet is also the home for 56 of 82 Toronto Maple Leafs games; the remaining 26 Leafs games are not on Sportsnet and thus not available in this product.

Note: Sportsnet does not own the regional rights to the Ottawa Senators (55 games), Montreal Canadiens (50 games) or the Winnipeg Jets (60 games). As a result, only their national games are available on Sportsnet NOW (32 Canadiens games, 27 Senators games, 22 Jets games).

SN NOW+ $27.99/month

SN NOW+ allows users to choose how much hockey they would like to watch.

SN NOW allows a user to livestream 300+ regular season games, depending on where you live, while SN NOW+ lifts blackouts for all Sportsnet exclusive games, totaling over 500 for the NHL season.

SN NOW+ also allows users to stream more non-hockey content, such as the Bundesliga, FA Cup, IndyCar and Premiership Rugby.

personally if i were to pick, i'd just pay the SN NOW+ for the full year to bring the cost down to ~$20/mo anyway and get the extra options to watch

You must know a friend/relative/colleague that has cable with sports (tsn/sn) and willing to give you their login details. If you have that you are set, assuming you have a smart tv with their app/laptop or Apple TV etc. Stream quality is awesome.
I used this for over a year a couple years ago and it worked great.
