doughty just being dumb, too invested into "playoffs must make a hit no matter what" hockey.
If he didn't hit his head first then sure all good, but the fact that he hit his head AND had the chance to not go for the hit is what makes it bad.

Hockey plays happen so fast, im sure he went for the body and just missed him driving center ice

For playoffs hockey i dont think it deserved a suspension

In the nhls DoPS statement on the suspension they talked about how even tho the hit was delivered to the body if secondary contact is made to head it is suspension worthy.

i agree hockey plays happen fast, but doughty's one of the most elite skaters in the league and not a rookie that doesn't know any better. Even the video explains it pretty clearly, he should've approached carrier in an angle that lines up to his core/body, rather than approaching him in an angle that's direct hit to his jaw/head. Another important factor is that Carrier didn't make any sudden movements to alter his head or body while doughty was lining up for the hit, it's what makes it look more blatant as an illegal check to head. Oh and also the joke league wants vgk to advance kappa

Doughty just needs to chill and play his elite game, and stop letting other players get to him so easily lol. Carrier threw some hits at Doughty throughout the game, so im sure Doughty wanted to get him back for that. Kinda like how Tkachuk made him his bitch, so Doughty probably felt that he didnt wanna be no one's bitch again huehue
