The NHL is a popularity contest so probably won't win anything.

Everything in life is a popularity contest. Even being president or prime minister.

It sucks but often winner =/= best for those things. Never fully agreed with ASG picks

Honestly, they need to define the award better. If the selke is based off best defensive forward than Coots should have already been a nominee. But we all know that is not the case as the same applies to the Norris where they want to count total points (offensive contribution) as well into the decision. The fact that Coots is now putting up over a ppg pace should cement him as a finalist in the selke category, but knowing the bias of the NHL they will put in Toews, Kopitar, and Bergy.
